Committee

  • Evaluation & Research
    • Assist in high-level evaluation of CHW services in the state
    • Identify members within the Evaluation & Research Workgroup to:
      • Identify priority issues and evaluation/research questions
      • Identify potential evaluation/research design and methods
      • Recommend data collection tools/software for CHWs
      • Share information with Policy Workgroup members
    • Create a list of university-based professionals who can assist with evaluation plans for grant submission and technical assistance for
      CHW-related research
  • Network & Sustainability
    • Research and identify CHW leadership from other states with successful CHW Coalitions/Associations to serve as presenters/speakers for future Coalition meetings
    • Engage in off-line meetings with other states’ identified CHW leadership
    • Explore the feasibility of regional CHW Coalition meetings
    • Identify and recommend marketing strategies to promote the Coalition and its efforts – *possible partnership with a professional marketing firm
    • Research existing CHW sustainability models and provide recommendations to the Coalition body
  • Curriculum
    • Research existing, evidence-based CHW Curricula/Training
    • Recommend feasible curriculum/training for Alabama’s CHWs
    • Identify and recommend appropriate CHW Training providers statewide
    • Research and provide workforce strategies promoting the CHW profession that aligns with an identified Curriculum/Training
  • Policy
    • Draft and recommend Mission, Vision, and Focus Statements of the Coalition
    •  Educate policymakers, stakeholders, the business community, etc., on CHW roles, skills, and qualities
    •  Address policy issues related to the potential for reimbursement for preventive services
    •  Research and share the CMS/Medicaid policy toolkit with members
    •  Partner with efforts of CHW Advocacy Groups to further the legislative agenda
  • Supporting the Development of CHWs
    • Develop a statewide CHW Registry
    • Research and develop a document describing Who CHWs are and what they do
    • Research existing CHW needs assessment tools, adapt for Alabama CHWs, and provide recommendations to the Coalition body
    • Plan and organize CHW conferences
    • Research and recommend professional development opportunities for CHWs i.e., webinars, conferences, training sessions
